PRO*TORSDAG: A Research Initiative on and by Maker Communities

PROTO* lab organizes PRO*TORSDAG as events for maker community building. It is also a research initiative, where we ask, how can we build, facilitate and support maker communities as regional infrastructure? Our lab’s regional focus is the Danish business region midtvest which covers 7 different kommunes or municipalities, namely Herning, Holstebro, Ikast-Brande, Lemvig, Ringkøbing-Skjern, Skive and Struer. Our aim is to foster and facilitate a makers network by collaborating with makerspaces, labs and workshops as key stakeholders across these 7 kommunes.

PRO*TORSDAG is organized as hybrid events on the 3rd Thursday of every month (unless that Thursday is a holiday) on campus at Aarhus University BTECH. Based on the characteristic of the event we also stream it online using zoom. For these events we invite external and internal experts from our maker community network to share their skills, knowledge and learning from ongoing projects, experiments or research.

In 2021 the events are being carried out on an experimental and trial basis, nevertheless we have set the ball rolling!

Here we document and archive the PRO*TORSDAG series.
